Career and Technical Education

There are a large number of Career and Technical Education (CTE) endorsements available. A complete list may be found at the NJ Department of Education website, along with specific requirements for CTE teacher certification. Those specifically labeled as STEM are: Chemical Technology (4172), Electronics Technology (4174), Engineering Technology (2545), and Marine Sciences (4179), though certainly there are many more areas in automotive, manufacturing, and information technology.

All CTE teacher certifications are offered through the Alternate Route pathway, but unlike the subject area teacher certificates, a bachelor's degree is not required. Either an associate's degree or evidence of 4 years (8,000 hours) of work experience in the appropriate field may be used to demonstrate proficiency.
